The book Interview with the Future is based on Baal HaSulam’s original manuscripts in our archive that talk about our times and the generations of the future. Among these materials, Baal HaSulam’s newspaper “ HaUma” (The Nation) was the first Kabbalistic newspaper in the world; he published it in 1940. (However, it was immediately shut down by the British authorities because of complaints from Kabbalah’s opponents.) These materials are necessary for understanding the global crisis that’s taking place in the world today. Related Material: Laitman.com Post: How Will We Live In the Last Generation? Does Soccer Have a Spiritual Root?

Does Soccer Have a Spiritual Root?

Two questions I received on soccer and Kabbalah: Question: Soccer draws the attention of many people. What is its spiritual root? I heard that you once drove by a soccer field with Rabash, and he said that it is a special place because it brings joy and pleasure to people. Soccer is full of corporeal, egoistic desires of the fans. What kind of ascent did Rabash see in this place? Maybe his words were a joke or a parable, or is there really a spiritual root to soccer? My Answer: What’s important is not the game of soccer, but that a person receives pleasure from life. And this pleasure, of course, comes from the Creator. There are many parables like this. If a person’s point in the heart - the yearning for the Creator - hasn’t surfaced yet, then he exists in exile from spirituality, even without being aware of it. As long as he is in this state, he enjoys the small pleasures of this world, called “a weak glow.” Here we are talking about people who are not yet ready for spiritual work. The Light gathers people together and gives them some contentment – and hence it is a special place. By being there, they don’t harm anyone, but on the contrary – unite with each other. Question: What if I want to be a soccer player and a Kabbalist at the same time? My Answer: Give it a try! Questions I received on spiritual advancement: Question: I have been studying with you for three years through the Internet. I used to attend a local group and even came to one of your lessons. Ever since I started studying Kabbalah, I have become grave and withdrawn. It has become very difficult to communicate with people, including you. My girlfriend left me, nothing seems to be going right in life, and I’ve been planning to write you a letter for a few years already. On the other hand, I am doing better: I have registered on the forum and am writing you a letter. I hope that I’ll be able to keep in touch with you at least virtually. There are many times when I’d like to talk to you. My Answer: If you’re drowning, you have to save yourself. And if you don’t have friends, then who will rescue you? Hence, success can only come by becoming included in the group, even if you have to force yourself to do it. Then the friends will support you and push you toward the goal. Question: In one of your lectures you said that we shouldn’t forget that there are ups and downs and that they lead a person toward the goal only if they come from the right aspiration. What is the right aspiration? How can I know that I aspire to the right goal? And generally speaking – does my desire or aspiration really depend on me? My Answer: If your aspiration emerged in you as a result of unifying with the group, then it is correct. Formed in San Francisco in the spring of 2006, The Union Trade consists of Don Joslin (guitar), Nate Munger (bass/vocals), Eric Salk (guitar /vocals), and Dan Rodkewich (drums). The Union Trade’s sound is the product of a collaborative writing style and mind-set, largely free of the barriers of role or instrument, that relies heavily on experimentation and reflection to find the feel of each song. With their first full-length release, Everyday Including (Tricycle), The Union Trade have bridged the gap between their instrumental-band inspirations, and a more vocals focused indie rock sound. This accomplished and cinematic album explores both sonic and human emotion as The Union Trade move in sweeping lines from dark and delicate beauty to soaring, triumphant peaks. Heavy, distorted guitars awash in delay are lifted by driving rhythms to create expansive melodies and lush textures anchored by the spare, evocative lyrics that narrate these songs with scenes of struggle and hope. The Union Trade’s new album “Everyday Including” will be out was released August 5th 2008 on Tricycle Records. Alrighty, back for another episode of Battlefield Podcast. This time we tackle the usual mod updates, new Bad Company screenshots and renders, and we talk about the Fight for the Future tournament. There’s somewhat of an Australian flair to the show, what with NetGameRadio launching and a rather suspicious Aussie Frappr Shoutout. It’s also movie time in this episode as we check out the trailer for the Chase at Fushe sequel, Siege in Songhua, and the latest Sir Community offering, Desktop Battlefield. Back to business! It’s 2008 and we’re looking forward to another great year of Battlefield with the impending Bad Company and the rumoured Battlefield 3. We’ve got lots to talk about so please excuse the pile of drool on the floor, but Ole couldn’t stop dreaming of BF3. Lots of mod updates over the holidays of course so we cover those, watch the first of several Bad Company video messages, wondering if DICE would ever hire one of us as their new community managers, and generally shoot the breeze.
