Maybe it's just the organization freak in me, but I can't stand it when I see a bunch of music files with missing or inaccurate tags that are tossed all over the place. Personally, all of my songs are MP3s, but some of these programs will work with other formats as well." Less

This is a programme in the “Shambles LIBcast” Podcast series produced by Chris Smith http://www.shambles.net/podcasting Conversations with librarians and media staff in International Schools in S.E. Asia Episode 6 This recording was made on 30th January 2007 In this program Chris talks with Doug Johnson Doug Johnson has been the Director of Media and Technology for the Mankato Public Schools (USA) since 1991 and has served as an adjunct faculty member of Minnesota State University, Mankato since 1990. He has conducted workshops and given presentations for over 130 organizations throughout the United States as well as in Malaysia, Kenya, Thailand, Germany, Qatar, Canada, Chili, the UAE and Australia and has held a variety of leadership positions in state and national organizations, including ISTE and AASL. One of the reasons for asking Doug to share his experiences was that he is booked to fly out to Bangkok in March 2007 to run the one day pre-EARCOS conference session for librarians and library staff …. and the wicked side of me wanted him to set some pre-session homework … but he resisted ;-) Hopefully this Podcast will give those attending the day an opportunity to listen to some of the views that Doug has in relation to the changing roles of librarians … the links below go to lots of free and relevant resources. We had a poor internet connection for this Skype interview ... I hope the sound quality does not distract from the content. Chris Smith talks with Andrea Walker and ALESS in Hong Kong
This is a programme in the “Shambles LIBcast” Podcast series produc... More
This is a programme in the “Shambles LIBcast” Podcast series produced by Chris Smith http://www.shambles.net/podcasting Conversations with librarians and media staff in International Schools across South East Asia. Episode one … recorded in October 2006 The program was very much an experiment where Chris was invited to attend the A L E S S meeting in Hong Kong using a skype internet connection. ALESS is the Association of Librarians in English Speaking Schools in Hong Kong a brilliant self help group that meets regularly. The initiative for this session came from Bryant McEntire, the Librarian at The French International School in Hong Kong where the meeting was held. In the meeting Chris talks with Andrea Walker who works at Renaissance College in Hong Kong which has recently moved into a new purpose built campus. It is only a short ten minute interview as we were modeling how Skype and Podcasting can be used in order to help evaluate its usefulness or relevance to teaching and learning. Andrea talked about herself and about the funding of libraries. Library environments, ICT (Apples) and favourite books where also mentioned … quite a lot in less than ten minutes.
