Watch Shelly’s commentary on T-MOBILE becoming the first to offer a phone withGOOGLE’s (NASD: GOOG) Android software and how it will affect mobile communication. APPLE (NASD: AAPL) is working on a software repair that will help fix the 3G iPhone’s tendency to drop calls. The mobile device has had a problem with slow 3G speeds and dropped calls, which Apple believes are related to a chip malfunction. Apple hopes its software update will remedy the situation, which could turn consumer evangelists into bad press mongers. Former APPLE (NASD: AAPL) General Counsel Nancy Heinen will pay $2.2 million to settle her backdated stock charges with the SEC. Heinen was one of several former employee’s named in the 2006 SEC backdating scandal, which accused dozens of companies of backdating stock options. Heinen falsified documents in 2001 and 2002 relating to the backdating of stock options, which helped her gain a considerable amount of personal wealth. HARBINGER CAPITAL has accumulated a 4.9% stake of CABLEVISION (NYSE: CVC). After acquiring its share, Harbinger filed a motion explaining that it could take a larger share of the cable provider. Harbinger, who successfully gained two seats on the NEW YORK TIMES Board of Directors this year, could be setting itself up for a proxy battle with the Dolans. Over the past week NETFLIX(NASD: NFLX) has experienced debilitating shipping set backs that affected 2.8 million subscribers. A major technical issue caused Netflix not to ship DVD’s Tuesday and Thursday, with partial a few shipments made Wednesday. Netflix still doesn’t know the root of the error, but will give customers who experienced problems a 5% discount on their monthly bill. The release date for HARRY POTTER and the HALF BLOOD PRINCE has been pushed back to July, 17, 2009. Share This Less
