Joan Bloom, senior vice president, Fidelity Investments Life Insurance Company, reported on a new study done by her firm which showed that a 65-year-old couple in 2008 will need $85,000 to insure against long-term care expenses, and noted that providing for uninsured retirees could cost the average family caregiver more than $140,000 in expenses, lost wages and more.
