On my way home today I passed three brand namegas stations. Two of them had gas for the same price. The one station situated in the middle of the distancebetween the other two had gas for 10 cents more agallon. Stuck in traffic and really thirsty I pulled in toget a drink. I grabbed a buck and a half bottle ofwater and headed for the check out. Behind the glasswas a Middle Eastern looking gentleman. I asked himwhy his gas was 10 cents more than the other same namebrand stations with in a mile in each direction of him.He smiled and said if I used his credit card I could save an additional 7 cents per gallon. I asked if it was onlygood at his station or at others of the same brand name.He smiled and said yes it would be honored at any oneof many. I than said "well that makes their gas 17 centscheaper a gallon." He went ballistic. Told me to get the hell out of his station and buy my gas some where else. OK.and my water too! I went down the road a mile and got a water for 59 cents. rock...

Here in Texas every year when you registeryour automobile the state sends you a stickerto put in the lower corner on the drivers sideof the windshield. My car is 5 years old. Thisyear the state told me I needed new licenseplates for the car. Why? There is nothing wrongwith the old ones. What another waste of taxpayer's money. This has to cost millions to produce newplates. So my new plates arrive and have a newnumber to boot. So every piece of material involvedin the car such as insurance, toll road tags and suchhad to be changed to the new number on the plates. There's an hour of my life I'll never get back. Seems the Prez is always invitingCongress "Men" to play in the games but has notasked a Woman to play yet. Wasn't that one of theproblems with the last Democratic President? Hewas asking the Women to play after showing offhis cigar collection. Women complain that the gamesallow the Men to spend more time with the Prez thanthey get to. This gives Men an unfair advantage tolobby their points the Women complain. First questionI have is, "Any of them got game?" Bottom line, the more time you spend on domestic choirs themore frequently you engage in "connubial canoodling".Their term not mine. Connubial, theres a word notused everyday. The survey claims that it doesn't haveto be dishes or vacuuming, yard work also gets ya some. So it appears that folk with more energy to spare [after choirs] are gettin' it on. Most wouldprobably agree it isn't finding time to have sex, it'shaving the energy to do it. Now if you'll excuse meI have some dusting to do. ;-)Play the set LOUD. rockcast 1.
The BOSS Set The Songs of Bruce Springsteen have always been overlooked due to the over exposure he enjoyed [or suffered, depending on your view] in the 1980's. After Born In The USA was released, and MTV got a hold of it in 1984 nothing was the same for the E Street Band. Fans who discovered them in the 80's had no interest in his more artistic albums of the 1970's. Born to Run is by far one of the finest rock records of any decade. The Wild The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle released in 1973 in an incredible record of vivid story telling along with outstanding musicianship. So if you are one to scoff at the mention of Springsteen, hold on for about 40 minutes and give the songs a chance. As performed by some of my favorite Artist. WhatI did do was come up with every excuse in theworld you could think of. My personal favoritesinclude it being washed away in a flash flood andbeing unable to do it because I had been kidnappedby Religious Deprogrammers. (A popular approachby some in the 1970's. They would have their kidssnatched because the kids didn't have the same views.)Meanwhile back on point, homework excuses. Iknow them all so I have to almost chuckle when my12 yr old gives me the same lame excuses. You knowit always sounds better in your head but when you put itout there, totally unbelieveable. So I have to play thatDad card and put my foot down. Her Mother wondered on camera howcould you be convicted of something that is not illegal? (i.e. talking on cell phone while driving.) First, her wreckless driving forced the otherdriver into the back of her car. Think if you were just drving alongwhen someone pulls in front of you and stops, you rear end them , areyou at fault? Even though you hit them? Second, She was not convictedof talking on the phone. Although she was damaged by the fact she was.Nobody voiced remorse for the family who's husband and father is nolonger among us. I hate seeing anybody go to jail but if this is an exampleto the public I don't think it will have an effect. Maybe after a few morepeople get killed. Total Bummer 2. rockcast 1.
Another baseball season lost. Once again the Chicago Cubs areheaded home before the playoffs. Once again October rolls aroundand I wonder why I wasted my time even following them. Theanswer is simple. I am a sucker for baseball and have been most ofmy life. Why the Cubs? A team that hasn't won in over 100 years. Why didn't I become a Yankee fan? At least I would have been ableto celebrate about 10 championships in the years I've been a Cub fan.It all started I guess because my entire family which is large, is allDetroit Tiger fans. I wanted a little individuality I guess. A team ofmy own as it were. The Cubs lost a bunch but were the only team onTV every day. It was better than soap operas. Funny thing, recentlythe city of Chicago was trying for the Olympics in 2016. When I heard "Chicago has been eliminated" I thought " yeah us Cub fans areused to hearing that!" A political cartoon in the Sunday fish wrapperhad the same sentiment. Well there is always football season! ;-) rockcast 1...

So another summer is almost finished. Allthe things I do in the fall are in full swing,it was a real adventure again as I experiencedthe hottest and coldest summers in history, allin the same season! As a kid I was a football player. Played High School. Our arch rivals were from a small town 2 miles from our small town. It has been such a heated rivalry that even though it was only 2 miles I knew not one person from there. Many of my team was the same. I bring this up because tonight they meet for the 100 time. Every year for 100 years peoples sons have been going at it. That is totally cool in my book. All players from past teams were invited to help celebrate. So Go Panthers! Kick the livin' K-rap out of em! Lets Rock. rockcast.us 1. Sparks - Over the Summer 2. Brendan Benson - Gonowhere 3. <itunes:summary>Came home last night and tuned in the Cubsgame to see they were getting their collectivebrains beat out again. As is the sitting traditionsince the death of announcer Harry Carey, aguest conductor leads the always rowdy crowdin a rendition of Take Me Out To The Ballgame.harry started the tradition during the 7Th inningstretch. Over the years I have seen some horribleperformances. My all time "Low Lights" includethe rambling mumblings of Ozzie Osbourne, thecompletely out of tune and wrong words of CoachMike Ditka of the Chicago Bears and the completelysnobbish ignoring to sing appearance by Peter Cetera. So I was totally surprised to see Eddy Vedder of theChicago band Pearl Jam at the mic. Eddy deliveredthe BEST rendition I have ever seen done at a Cubsgame. It was that good. Oh and Pearl Jam doeshave a new album in stores in a couple of weeks.I hear it is excellent. rockcast Happy Birthday Kirstie 1. John Mabes call to the White House 2 2. Jet - Start The Show 3. Now I find if I go over I getcharged. Not only that but I pay a monthly fee to dosuch. You can decline. Problem is you don't have tosign up, they automatically sign you up. Now you haveto go to them and say I don't want this service. Theycall it "Opting out" of the service. I have been tryingto talk to a live person for 3 weeks. This rep isalways in a "meeting", yeah right. So I figure it'snot the $3. a month, it's the fact you have to contactthem to take you off. Sucks. So as I sit on hold let usspin some tunes.
I had planned to do a set of my favorite cutsfrom Woodstock for a few years now. I was abit put off by the lame documentary I watchedand all the marketing. My Mom told me todayshe felt at the time in 1969 it was just a bunchof dirty Hippies doing drugs. A bunch is right.Actually I was a kid who sat in his cousins basementand listened on Ham radio to reports from thesite. What we heard from the conversations going onwas a great time was being had by mostly all. I wassitting there imagining what I was hearing and it wasa cool experience which included us all talking abouteverything we were hearing and why it did not matchwhat was being shown on TV. I had a great timeand the people I met in Michigan could not havebeen nicer. I just did not have enough time tosee all the folk I wanted to. Perhaps next time.I have an entertaining set for you today. Dig in. rockcast 1. The Parasites - All The Time In The World 2. The Twisters - I Refuse To Get Old 3. Chris Spedding - Motorbikin' 4.
