Welcome to the 3rd Anniversary show of Uncomfortable Questions! This is a very fun interview with a guest from Finland. I loved doing this one. I talk to Mikko, age 31 - Transhumanist, do-gooder and Asshole. He is delightfully cheeky, and a deep thinker. Some of the concepts he presents are not immediately intuitive, so he sent me a link to a 1 page paper he wrote on his philosophy. Please read it, it is funny and makes things a lot clearer. Get it at: http://mjr.iki.fi/texts/lue The link Mikko mentions on the show for the Singularity Institute is at: http://www.singinst.org Also a link to more information on Transhumanism - http://www.transhumanism.org You can send me email at: uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net.

I'm back! This is a short show, to get me back on track after surgery, andtoo much life in general. I included her piece and also went on with some musings of my own on"Is Life Fair - And Should It Be?". Send me your own thoughts or comments at sue.grandys@gmail.com (if you want to send a sound file, use this one - it can handle upwards of 20MB files - or you can send mail also to : uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net. Next show is my 3rd Anniversary show, and I hope to bring you something really special.

Show #63 -05/13/2008- Dan L. Interview

This turned out to be a very different show. I interview Dan L.,age 62, a free thinker from Texas. He was a career military man, andI was interested to hear about life from him, as I have little contactwith that world. He was unsurprisingly quite the realist, but did surprise me with thedepth to which he believed in empowering people and elevating humanity. There is a lot of talk of politics, which I try to avoid, but it tied in so muchwith the views of how governments should use the military, so I left it all in. Take it as another world view, whether you agree with it or not! Email me at uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net

This is a non-traditional single question show. I got only 3 answers on last months question to the audience: If we are here for a reason, are we here to explore the me, or transcend the me? The ones who braved the question were:- Big Phil, from show #36 - of Big Phil's Love Parade - Graviton Ring, show #48- Christy - (a guest of my roommate who was wandering through the house. Yes I will go to any lengths to get answers - no one is safe!). As always, email me at: uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net Next month we will have a full traditional interview with my new found victim, Christy!

Today I ask the big questions of Michael, age 33, and Objectivist with a soul. He is from the Greater Minneapolis area, and we met to record in a park on the most glorious of late fall days. We got into depression, alcoholism, and coming out of all that into a morehopeful view of life and the universe. Michael was a most open, honest, heartwarming person. I adored doing this interview. And as always, email me at: uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net.

This is a special show. Today I ask the big question: What is the Universe? to the listening audience. Please look at the Hubble Deep Space picture at: http://hubblesite.org/newscenter/archive/releases/2004/07/image/a/format/large_web/ Ponder this picture, think about the Universe and send me sound (mp3) files (64 kb is fine, 96, or 128 kb is good too) - or send an emailwith the thoughts and answers to this question. I'll read or play the files on the next show. I try to start tackling thequestion myself on this show, and hope to have better conclusions after I hear from all of you. Please send your mp3 recorded answers or your email answers to: sue.grandys@gmail.com I will need the answers by October 5th, so I can get the show up by thefollowing week. Please, please, please join in the conversation!I need you!

Today we get philosophy according to Corey, age 21.He is a Vegan, male prostitute from Minnesota. A monophobic wholoves philosophy and people. (Oh yeah, and sex). It is a charming, irrepressible, and slightly nilistic combination. What fun it was to talk with him! I'm exploring the possibility of changing the show. I just passed my 2 yearanniversary of the podcast, and am rapidly losing audience for the last 2 shows. I suspect you might be getting a little bored? One idea is to ask one "big question" each show, and ask for listenersto send in .mp3's or email with their answers. Of course that would dependon you all getting involved. What do you think? Email me at: uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net

Today's show is with Linda, age 59. She is from Salt Lake City, retired from State employment, and having the time of her life. She sang for 20 years in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, traveled all over, taught the sight impaired, and has had quite the interesting life. I found her straightforward, yet such a kind person. Religious, yet open to anyone and full of mirth. I totally enjoyed talking with Linda! And as always, email me at: uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net

He is a most enjoyable talker, and this show ends up being mostly aboutrelationships and sex. Give it a listen! -------------------- The song at the end of the show is the long promised song (from previousguests Alex and Lyndon and their band 3 Blind Mice) from their newCD release Good Grief. The song is my person favorite off that CD - How Will I Know? Their CD's are available on itunes, or visit theirweb page at www.catsaway.com. ------------------- As always, email me at uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net

Join me in when Charlie takes on the "big questions". Charles is age 54, a psychologist, originally from Texas, now resides in Oregon. We wandered off in many directions from the questions, as I was interested to see how a psychologist would view the uncomfortable questions. We also had our super-geek moments! What we got was a lot of laughter and fun. Attatched is a ghoulish Halloween picture of Charlie! Can you imagine meeting your psychologist dressed like that? And please email me at uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net. If this is all too serious, tune into Cayenne Chris Conroy's absurd comedy show at www.tekdiff.com . It will make you a better person. Really!

Today's delightful show is a Skype interview with DeAnne, age 41. She is a Musician, Social Worker, Transcriberix, and happens to be blind. She is a most lovely person to talk to, spiritual without being religious, funny, questioning of everything, and I totally adored her. My favorite parts are her view of Hope as "Spiritual Gravity", and her final words of advice kept me laughing for some time. I'm adding a photo of DeAnne that was just sent, a Halloween picture. Fun! As always, email me at: uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net.

Today we have a Skype interview with Andrew, age 36 who takes on the big questions of life. He is the father of 2 preschoolers, happily married, and a self described "featureless cubicle boy". Andrew is from England, and now living in the states. We talked for over 2 hours! I had to cut the show down to something manageable, and I think you will find him warm, funny, and wise. His views are that of a scientist who thinks the evidence for telepathy and things of that sort are rather compelling. It is a delightful and unique take we haven't heard yet on U.Q. I know you will enjoy this show!

This show is a Skype interview with Dana, age 29, the girl with pink hair from St. Johns, Newfoundland. Dana is the creator of the podcast BLARM at www.blarmcast.com. Dana takes on the "big questions" with intelligence, humor, and laughter -and at the end we discuss sex, love, what the heck it is guys want, and body image problems of women - like two girlfriends chatting on the phone. The show is over a week late, because I hopelessly tried to get 100 delightful minutes with Dana, down to a managable 50 minutes. An impossible task!Join in the fun, and give it a listen. Write to me, just to chat, or volunteer to do a show yourself at: uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net

This is the Uncomfortable Questions 1 year Anniversary Show. It is a Skype interview with Jake Cordova, age 31, a power seller on Ebay, a Humanist, and an Athiest surrounded by Mormans in Utah! We had an amazing, wonderful talk, on dealing with a religious town while being an Athiest, how being a diabetic from the age of 3 changes your views of life, the facinating story of divorcing his wife to save their deep frienship of 13 years, and many other subjects. This is a don't miss episode! Jake is also one of the hosts on Choose The Left podcast, a funny andquirky show he does with his ex-wife Erin. It made the top 10 in the Podcast Pickle Cast Wars. Congratulations Jake and Erin! You can get to their show at http:\\ctlcast.com Please email me with comments or to volunteer to be interviewed at: uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net.

This is a special show - and Skype interview to Lynoure, Age 30, Linux Geek from Finland!! She and I overcame many technical problems for 2 hours, just to get the Skype connection that allowed us to do the interview. But she stayed with me, and the results are worthi it! Lynoure is a darling, and we talked not only about the big questions, but got a Finnish cultural perspective on many things, and we ended with a discussion on solipsism ( a theory holding that the self can know nothing but its own modifications and that the self is the only existent thing), and overcomming depression. To say nothing of superpowers! Enjoy! As usual, write to me at uncomfortable-question@tcinternet.net.
