Trixter&amp;#8217;s second album, Hear, was released in 1992, but was not as successful on MTV or in record shops. They stated on VH1&amp;#8217;s Top 40 Hair Band Countdown that their goal was to play the arena near their hometown, Continental Airlines Arena, in East Rutherford, New Jersey: they achieved this when Trixter opened for the Scorpions in 1991. IV. Tonight&amp;#8217;s Special Guest - Rich Ward: Guitarist, Singer, and Songwriter (Stuck Mojo / Fozzy) [PART 2 OF THE INTERVIEW] Rich &amp;#8220;The Duke&amp;#8221; Ward is a singer, guitarist and songwriter who first made a name for himself as a founding member of the band Stuck Mojo. For years the band had been building a loyal fan base in rock clubs all across America, but their first big tour came in October of 95 when they were asked to join Machine Head as their opening act on a ten-week stint of North America. That was followed by the band&amp;#8217;s first European tour, an eleven week run hitting Germany, France, Italy, England, Austria, Denmark, Poland, Belgium and the Czech Republic. On the last show of the tour, STUCK MOJO performed on the main stage at the prestigious Dynamo Festival in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Having just been named the year&amp;#8217;s best live band by MTV Europe, many rock journalists covering the event noted that STUCK MOJO was the highlight of the show. The band would go on to tour with Pantera, Testament, Life Of Agony, Type O Negative, The 24/7 Spyz, Sevendust and Clutch. STUCK MOJO became Century Media&amp;#8217;s biggest selling act in America and would remain so until 2004. In 2000, after six albums, eight world tours, years of living out of suitcases and constant friction between the band&#8217;s management and the band&amp;#8217;s record company, Century Media, Stuck Mojo drifted apart. Rich went on to release several records with other band projects (Fozzy, Sick Speed) as well as a solo record and, after a 4 year hiatus, decided to reform Stuck Mojo by testing the waters with a 17-date tour of Europe in February 2005. Not only were the gigs incredibly well attended but the live reviews in the press were ecstatic, leading to 4 more tours of Europe and a 6 week tour of the States over the next 16 months. In Part 2 of our interview, Rich talks about the progress/history of Stuck Mojo, starting Fozzy with WWF wrestler Chris Jericho, and he sheds some light on what it&amp;#8217;s REALLY like to be a label-signed musical act. What you take away from this interview is a better picture of the reality of getting signed to a record label. You will also see what that can mean to any musician who loves their craft and entrusts the success and future of his/her career to a corporation whose goals and vision are of a different motivation. Rich&amp;#8217;s unfettered candor and brutal honesty may be shocking to those with their eye on that proverbial Brass Ring. V. In Part 1 of our interview, Rich talks about the beginnings of Stuck Mojo, how they got their first recording label contract, and he shed some light on what it&amp;#8217;s REALLY like to be a label-signed musical act. V. RIP Singer / Songwriter Paul Davis - Taken from WTOK-TV&amp;#8217;s website: &amp;#8220;If you take Paul Davis&amp;#8217; biography, it&amp;#8217;s going to be very small,&amp;#8221; said Van Mac of WOKK/The Radio People. &amp;#8220;If you start stacking up his contributions to the music industry, it&amp;#8217;s very large. It&amp;#8217;s funny; he had so many hit records and the average person might not even know who Paul Davis is.&amp;#8221; Davis released eight albums in his career with six singles reaching the top 20 on the Adult Contemporary charts, his highest being &amp;#8220;Cool Night&amp;#8221; which reached number two. His hit &amp;#8220;I Go Crazy&amp;#8221; reached Number 7 on the Billboard Top 100 Charts, and remained in the Top 100 for an incredible 40 weeks. His songs &amp;#8220;Cool Night,&amp;#8221; and &amp;#8220;&amp;#8216;65 Love Affair&amp;#8221; also reached the Top 10 in 1981 and 1982, respectively. Six of his recordings reached into the Top 10 on either the Billboard or Country charts. Davis was inducted into the Jimmie Rodgers Hall of Fame in Meridian in 1987.&amp;#8221; Davis passed away at Rush Hospital in Meridian , MS on April 23, 2008 from a heart attack. He was 60 years old. III. Brian&amp;#8217;s Editorial: The State of Web Technology in 2008, Online Marketing, and Creating Global Culture Around Your Art IV. Tonight&amp;#8217;s Guest - Rich Ward: Guitarist, Singer, and Songwriter (Stuck Mojo / Fozzy) Rich &amp;#8220;The Duke&amp;#8221; Ward is a singer, guitarist and songwriter who first made a name for himself as a founding member of the band Stuck Mojo. Tonight&amp;#8217;s Topic - Multiple Income Streams: Tonight, Brian and Mike talk informally about the topic of multiple income streams. For most anyone looking to build a substantial career in the music business, it is usually necessary to learn to use your various skills in a variety of ways. By taking your core talents and abilities, you can create different methods by which income can be generated. When one stream is a little slow, another is usually flowing freely and abundantly to help you provide for your needs and maintain your lifestyle, paying your bills and providing enough income for a hobby or two. There are other tangents that the guys so down including hiring and firing musicians, putting 100% into every gig, and why music-related magazines suck at fostering realistic examples of successful music industry pros. *REMEMBER: Tonight&amp;#8217;s program is totally off the page. So, you never know where Brian and Mike will go. II. <title>Sharing Big Files? Try Pando</title>
      <link>http://www.odeo.com/episodes/23310647-Sharing-Big-Files-Try-Pando</link>
<description>Ok, somehow this has turned from being a music biz blog into a geek blog. But, I guess you could consider this posting to be a little of both. I have been looking for a new way to share big files with clients across long distances. Not everyone uses AOL Instant Messenger and it&amp;#8217;s hit and miss on file transfers. USendIt.com has been putting a cap on file sizes for &amp;#8216;free&amp;#8217; clients. And while I&amp;#8217;m a geek of the highest order, not everyone else is. So, asking some people to FTP files to and from servers is akin to having them cypher quadratic equations. So, in looking around for a simple solution, I found Pando. I could give you the long explaination of how it works, but for that just click the picture above. That will take you to a short video demo put togther by Robert Scoble. In short, it combines P2P file sharing with BitTORRENT-style file swapping. I could give you the long explaination of how it works, but for that just click the picture above. That will take you to a short video demo put togther by Robert Scoble. In short, it combines P2P file sharing with BitTORRENT-style file swapping. Pando emails a small file to your recipient that they use to download your file package directly from your computer&amp;#8217;s desktop or from the Pando server. You can send individual files or entire folders (no &amp;#8216;zipping&amp;#8217; required) and Pando can transfer up to 1GB of data with each package. I&amp;#8217;m going to try it over the weekend to swap files with a studio client. They&amp;#8217;ll send me their session files using Pando, uploading the entire session folder right off of their personal hard drive. When I&amp;#8217;m done with my drum tracking, I&amp;#8217;ll just send either the entire revised session or just the Broadcast .wav drum tracks right back to them (depending on how large 14 tracks of individual drum mics gets). For more info or to try out the Pando software, just go to Pando.com. Tag / Bookmark to: Hide Sites</itunes:subtitle>
