TLR 15: Jawbone Demo on Handel

Hosts: Leo Laporte and Bill Handel July 1, Californians will join many other states and countries in requiring drivers to use handsfree devices when talking on their cell phones. I called Bill using the Jawbone today. I currently use the BlueAnt Supertooth Light in my car. It has its own speaker and mic and attaches to the visor. It works pretty well, although I can't vouch for what it sounds like to my callers. Another system that requires no installation but uses your car speakers is The Tooth Pik. Bandwidth for the Laporte Report is provided by Cachefly Running time: 4:56

Leo Laporte on the Bill Handel Show, KFI AM 640, Los Angeles, 7:50am, April 14, 2006 Tivo gets a second life at the ninth hour. A jury has awarded Tivo $74 million in its lawsuit against the DISH Network (Echostar). That means Tivo effectively owns the patents to the key technologies for DVRs (digitial video recorders) including the ability to pause, rewind, and fast forward live programming. Tivo probably wouldn't have survived losing this lawsuit. Now all DVR manufacturers will have to license their technology from Tivo. Echostar plans to appeal. Running time: 5:57

Also of interest, AOL is proposing a system where mass mailers pay a fraction of a cent per email - and the Internet community is up in arms. And speculation about Microsoft’s Origami device is building. Running time: 9:58

Perfect for following NCAA scores, but it also tracks news stories, gives driving directions and movie times, and can even give you the name, address, and phone numbers of your neighbors. All in a very easy to use dashboard interface.
