Bratfest At Tiffany’s by Lisi Harrison - Book Rating: (Five out of Five Stars) MLA Book Citation: Harrison, Lisi. Bratfest At Tiffany’s. New York: Fitzgerald books, 2008. I picked up this book because I read all the other Clique books and this is the last one I wanted to see what happened. Bratfest at Tiffany’s is about this school that gets over populated. It was an only girls’ school, but boys came and it became over populated. Some of the students stays in the school, but the other kids have to stay in bad trailers outside. These kids are rich kids and are spoiled. They don’t want anything to do with the trailers. The new “Pretty Committee” has a pack to not flirt, talk, or go out with any guys. They even got bracelets to make it official. When the new Pretty Committee finds out that Alicia has a boyfriend, they kick her out of the group and make her give up her bracelet. All the girls except for Alicia get stuck in the trailers; Massie the head of the Pretty Committee gets a designer to make the trailers better. They made them in the shape of Tiffany jewelry boxes and everyone wants to be in the trailers now. They have a contest at school, and all the guys on the soccer team win it. Cam finds Claire helping take care of his health class baby and they get back together. The Pretty Committee all get back together and stops the boy fast. My favorite part of the book is when Cam and Claire got back together because I was hoping they always would get back together and it’s a cute scene.</itunes:subtitle>

Heartland: After The Storm By Lauren Brooke - Book Rating: Five of Five Stars Brooke, Lauren. Heartland: After The Storm. Scholastic Inc., New York. 2000. I picked this book because the librarian recommended it to me. I’m glad she did because I really liked this book. In this book, Amy gets to see Spartan for the first time, because he was at a ranch where they healed him. He was in a accident with Amy and Amy’s mom. Both Amy and Spartan (the horse) were both injured. Amy had 2 broken ribs, but her mom died in the car accident. Spartan is afraid of Amy. Days go by and Spartan begins to trust Amy again. My favorite part is when Amy gets to see Spartan again.

The other book was Tell. Home Invasion is mainly about this boy who has trouble with eavesdropping on other people’s business, and there is a home invader who is going around and breaking into peoples houses while they are there.
The Fallen by Paul Langen – Book Rating: (Five Stars) I picked up this book because I like all Bluford High Series. It is about a kid that goes to Blueford High school, and he has problem with a kid in the school. My favorite aspect of the book is when he is fighting and is when the kid what to jail for hitting a minor. I recommendation this to teen because little kids will not understand. it is very graphic.

Orca Book Publishers. 2008 I picked up this book because I heard another book chat during class. It sounded interesting, and I wanted to read the whole book to find out more. I read the back once I got it, and I was hooked and wanted to read it. This book is about a boy named Gordie and his brother Chase. Chase is a drug addict and has been hooked on crystal Meth for 2 years. The book begins with Chase whacking a guy over the head with a bottle and putting the guy in the hospital with a coma. His parents pay bail, putting Gordie’s family in even more debt, but bringing Chase home on probation. Chase has debts of his own he has to pay off, his old dealers. So, Gordie tries to help, thinking this would be the last time Chase would ever see the dealers. Gordie gets $2000 dollars, all the money he has to pay off Chase’s debts. ...

Chase gets caught in the end and he ends up in the hospital and his parents’ find out he is brain dead, and his parents pull the plug. I liked the part in the book where they try to catch chase the first time, and the police fail, so Gordie tries to take him down himself. Gordie follows Chase down an ally and loses him again. I think this is a great book. I think anyone around the age 14 and older should read this book. There are a lot of drugs and adult content in this book, so I wouldn’t recommend this to little kids.</itunes:subtitle>

In the story, Remy just go out of jail, and he saw his ex girlfriend that he never wrote to while he was in jail. She has a new boyfriend named Marcus, and Remy doesn’t like that. He went to go see his old school, and he saw some of his old friends playing basketball. So he played for a little, and then Marcus’s crew came along and started to hassle Remy and his friends. They ended up fighting. The cops came and everyone ran. Remy ended up getting a job and friends and money. He played basketball almost everyday. Toward the end they had this BIG fight with rocks, bats, chains, and anything they could find. The cops came they all ran and Marcus almost got caught and he pulled out his cell phone to cause his brother who told Marcus if you ever get hassled by the cops call me, and then Remy quick yelled KNIFE!!! And then Marcus was shot 3 times. Remy goes back to school. The one day he got out of school he saw Asia and he talked to her and he told him that he lied to the cops that he knew he was getting out his cell phone, but Remy really didn’t. Then Asia just walks away My favorite part was when at the end where Marcus got shot for pulling out his cell phone and Remy yelled he has a KNIFE. The parts where he talked about Asia (his ex) the whole time. I think that everyone would like this book a lot. But there are some graphic parts. They talk about smoking weed and drinking and there is some swearing. There also are some sexual parts in this book. But they aren’t too bad.</itunes:subtitle>

This book is about four girls who are all best friends until one of the girls ends up trying to make everyone hate one of the girls. It works except one of the girls felt bad and didn’t know what to do because she liked everyone in the group and didn’t want the group to split up. After all, they had been best friends since grade school. One day three of the girls where invited to a birthday party and one of the girls wasn’t invited. She didn’t know why and what she did wrong. Half the girls teased her and were being rude to her for no reason. So they kick her out of the group and now they add a new girl to the group.
Riley Park (Orca Sounding) by Diane Tullson - a book review by Brittany

Riley Park by Diane Tullson - Book Rating: five out of five stars I picked up this book because I needed something for the book chat, and I picked it up read the back. I fell in love with the book instantly. I went home and read. I thought maybe I would finish a couple chapters before my mom got home and got dinner ready. Well I ended up reading the whole book in two hours!!!!! There’s this guy Corbin and his best friend Darius. The beginning takes place at a grocery store called Safe Way. There’s this girl that they both like named Rubee. They just got their groceries and are putting it all in the trunk, when Rubee gets off the bus to start her shift at Safe Way. She walks in and starts her shift, so Corbin is afraid to ask her out. Darius asks her out to the party. Apparently she has an ex that doesn’t like this idea, so he follows Rubee. At the party Darius and Corbin went cliff Diving and Corbin gets really drunk. After the diving, him and Darius gets attacked...

Go Ask Alice by Beatrice Sparks – Rating: (Five out of Five Stars) I picked up this book because it was recommended to me, and because of what it had said on the back. There is a girl; we do not know her name, but she, in the beginning of the book, doesn’t feel like she fits in with her family. She doesn’t feel like she belongs. About the middle of the book, she goes to a friend’s party, and they play a game. In 4 out of 14 glasses of coke, Jan puts LSD (acid). The narrator gets one of the glasses and starts seeing colors around the room. Towards the end of the book, her and Chris get addicted to grass and heroine and she starts to wonder about her sexuality and finds out that she likes guys and girls. At the end of the book she dies. My favorite part of the book was how her family was so supportive of her, and how she tells her siblings to watch out. I recommend this to anyone; just be aware that there is cussing.

After leaving the hospital he takes matters in to his own hands by looking for a girl named Rubee who was hanging out with Darius at the party. He can’t find her, so he heads down to the park to see the shrine all the others left for Darius . Seeing a small pile of freshly placed roses, he picks them up and walks out on the now frozen river taking them to were the boys had jumped into the water before the attack. He says that is where Darius was “ still alive ”. Not knowing the ice is still thin he falls through the ice, He tries to stay afloat but he can’t because he is still weak from being in the hospital. He sees a casting shadow; he reaches. It is Rubee . She gets him out. They sit in a near by dog walkers car tell the EMS get there. She tells Corbin who attacked them that night. Officer Rex the lead investigator in the boys’ case asked Corbin to testify in court for Darius . Corbin recovers and goes on to teach his passion; hockey for community service for fighting with Officer Rex . M y favorite aspect of the book is that no mater what life throws at you, take it and learn from it. I liked the fact that Corbin did what he had to do to make it right and was honest about it. That is what justice is all about.</itunes:subtitle>

Canada: Orca Book Publishers, 2009 I picked up this book because I was looking through a pile of books, and this cover had a crow bar which made me wonder. So I read the back “The nurse puts her hand on my arm. I don’t know y that bothers me so much, but I want to flick it off. She says “your friend”. It’s about these two hockey players that are really good friends and hockey players. The one really likes this girl. She has a boyfriend but they broke up. The boy who likes her is Darius. He asked her to a party at Riley Park. Corbin the other hockey player got drunk at the party and passed out. When he wakes up it is just him and Darius. Then out of no were these three guys start beating them up. The one guy put darius in critical condition and corbin got hit with a crow bar. Corbin’s head is cracked open. When they fix Corbin he loses a part of his brain. You hear Darius’s heart monitor in the back ground like you are there, but Darius dies. In the end it’s really good, but it leaves you hanging at the end of the book in a way. To find out who murdered them you will have to just read the book. My favorite aspect of the book is when Corbin and Darius got in the fight with the three guys at Riley Park after the party. I thought that how the author made the scenes so realistic was amazing because I thought I was like there. The worst part of the book would have to be the time when they were getting ready to put Corbin in surgery they had to empty his stomach and it was just not for me because like I said it was so realistic and graphic I just didn’t like that scene. It had me gagging. This book is for anyone who likes mystery and action because you do this is your book right here. I just think read its really good. <itunes:summary>Normal 0 0 1 370 2111 17 4 2592 11.1280 0 0 0 Riley Park by Diane Tullson - Book Rating: 5 out of 5 stars Tullson, Diane. Riley Park. She takes a deep breathe. “He didn’t make it”. Now her dark hair is fading to gray, and i see the emergency room nurse, and i hear the heart rate monitor behind the curtain. Darius’s heart rate monitor. And I remember now the sound it made when his heart stopped. ” It was really good so i just decided to read it. There is a good amount of language.</itunes:summary>

Rebel Glory by Sigmund Brouwer – Book Rating: ***** Brouwer, Sigmund. Rebel Glory. Custe, WA: Orca Book Publishers, 2006. I picked up this book because I thought is was a good book, and it had a picture of ice hockey equipment on the front. In the story, there was a hockey team from the Western Hockey League called the Red Deer Rebels. They had a really bad losing streak in the past few years, and there is a guy that wants to buy the team from the owner and move the team up to Calgary. Craig McElhany or as the team called him Mac, got traded to the team. When players get traded, they stay with families called Billets. Craig stayed with Henry’s. In the first game, in the first period Jason was on the right wing position and started dancing; then he started taking his pads off. Then as he threw his pads, the team saw cockroaches fall out of them. Then the next game they got all icky and the team found out it was the fiberglass from the washer. Then their teacher Mr. Palmer gave Craig a bet. The bet was if they lose. He has to sing “Mary Had A Little Lamb” over the intercom. During the next couple games thing happened to the Rebels. Like coke was poured on Craig and one of his rivets in his came out of his skate. When Craig and the Henry’s were eating dinner they got a phone call that said,” Craig hit a girl on his date.” Then when the team was done practicing, they thought that Craig took their wallets and hid them and he got kicked off the team. He was driving back to his hometown in Winnipeg. Then he thought that he could get back on the team and he turned around and headed back to Red Deer. My Favorite part of the book had to be when the cockroaches were in Jason’s pads the was my favorite part. The really good part about the book was that the government knew that they had a third kid but couldn’t prove it. Worst part had to be that they sold the trees behind there house and now people are building a house there. Because of that he cannot go out side ever again because the neighbors might see him. He doesn’t know were anyone is at so someone that finds him, calls ACS and they come and pick him up and take him away. Tyrell felt that that it was his fault. He didn’t want anything to do with his mom anymore, so calls a friend and starts to live the rest of his life. My favorite aspect of this book is when Tyrell, at the end of the book, moves away from his mother to live with one of his friends. The worst part of the book is when his mom acts like an idiot and leaves Troy alone at the shelter, so someone calls ACS, and they take Troy. My only cautions are that there is swearing and and graphics that would be unsuitable for kids. I would suggest 14 and up.</itunes:subtitle>

In the beginning it talks about how they are living how their homeless, running around to every broken down shelter, and how Tyrell’s life is living with his mother and younger brother Troy. Tyrell’s mom is just so lazy, so she telling Tyrell to go get a job. Maybe even be a drug dealer as long as she gets the money for what she wants to do.

The book Fish was more for younger kids and not so much teenagers. The whole story was about this kid named Tiger and his family’s adventure across the border. His parents are doctors so they helped the villagers with their medical needs, but they live in a war country and the war is moving closer so the villagers and Tigers family must move to safety. His parents help every one move out safely. They are the last to go. Before they departed Tiger found a fish in a giant mud puddle outside his house, he then knew he had to save this fish from the war infested country. So Tiger and his family got a guide and his donkey to help cross the border. They run into various life threatening situations. The story kept you on edge because you weren’t sure if they were going to make it or not.

In the story Melinda goes to school and no one talks to her because of something that happened at a party and because she called the police. More towards the middle or the end of the story Melinda finally tells you what happened at the party. At the very end of the book you find out that Melinda is trapped in a room because the guy who rapped her trapped her there. He confronted her and asked her questions on why she was telling people she was rapped. The he hits Melinda and a teacher walks in. The worst part of the book was basically everything in between the good parts because most of the stuff Melinda talks about has nothing to do with what the book is suppose to be about. She would talk about thanks giving and that had no effect on her being rapped in anyway. If you like to slowly read books then this is a good book for you and if you like real lie crises then this is also a good book and i highly recommend it. If you don’t like a book that goes slow then this isn’t a good book to read and you won’t be interested but over all I don’t recommend this book just because it’s boring.</itunes:subtitle>

That’s why I took her word for it, and when I read it I feel in love with the book. This book is a little about a kid who was given up at birth to foster care. One day he got adopted and was getting abused by his new foster family. One day Buddy got curious an decided to run away from his new foster family and find out what really happen to his real parents. There’s a couple reasons why I picked up this book. My favorite part of the book was when they made it seem like he was battling Fish Head because this is a real life story. At the same time it will catch children’s ateching. The worst part of this book was when they locked Buddy in the barn after getting beat. The reason why that was the worst part of the book is because no one likes to read about a child getting beat and my anger flares up w...

A Hole in My Life by Jack Gantos – Book Rating: Five out of Five Stars ***** Gantos, Jack. A Hole in My Life . 1st ed. New York, NY: Farrar, Straus, & Giroux, 2002. I picked up this book because I had to read it when I was in Twilight School. Mr. McGough, a teacher in the Twilight Program, said we had to read in his class. I read the book in two days. We started reading it Thursday night in Twilight School and I finished the book by Friday night. I really enjoyed reading the book, so reading it was easy for me. The book is a true story about Jack Gantos’ life. Jack tells his life story after he made some bad choices. Gantos did drugs and sold drugs. His drug of choice was hash. While he was using hash he met a lot of different people, some of those people were very wealthy drug dealers. While he was using hash he met a lot of different people, some of those people were very wealthy drug dealers. Since he was homeless, the drug dealers offer to let him live with them only if he agreed to work for them. In the beginning, he had a couple of close calls with getting caught by the police. At one point, he was driving a boat in order to deliver a large amount of hash to another bigger dealer and he got pulled over in the boat by the Coast Guard. His boss, who was also on the boat, threatened to kill him if he admitted to the Coast Guard that there were drugs on board. As he sells drugs, he gets into more drugs like heroin and meth. In the novel, Gantos tells about his experiences with drugs and dealing drugs. Eventually, he gets caught selling drugs to an undercover police officer and is sentenced with time in jail. In the novel, he reflects on the choices that he made that landed him in jail. He hated being in jail and basically had to fight to stay alive while he was in there. I really enjoyed this book. My favorite aspect of this book was that it talked about all the stuff that you are not supposed to talk about in school. The worst part about this book was the very beginning. The beginning was not very interesting. Jack Gantos did not really get to the stuff that I found interesting until later in the book. I think anybody could enjoy reading this book. However, I think people who hmay have had some trouble might like this book more than anyone else. I think Jack Gantos’ purpose in sharing his story was to tell people to make the right choices. His message to readers was to encourage them to get a job and take care of themselves. Gantos also focused on sending the message that you should not sit around and make excuses. He also felt it was important to stress that readers should not use drugs because all they do is ruin your life and the lives of those around.</itunes:subtitle>

The book is about this teenage boy named Clint who happens to meet this very lovely young lady. They become very close in the few days they knew each other, but she told some fantasy like life stories that made him care for her more. Her name was Malina. She left her place in Greece away from her step father because supposedly her mother was dead and left him with lots of money and when she had turned 18 it would all go to her. Melina said she believed that he was the one that killed her mother and thought that he would kill her to before she was 18. The one day in the story Melina kidnapped Clint and tied him up as a prisoner to tell him that her and her “foster” family were jewl thieves and were going to steal all of his father’s jewels from his job since he was a jeweler. He got free and got a ride back to his house to find the police there taking Melina and her “foster parents” into there vehicles hand cuffed and all. She was to good to be true, just like his dad tried to tell him, but since he was a young man he got caught up in love. My favorite aspect of the book was when Melina told Clint that they were jewel thieves and they were taking all his father’s jewels because that kind of started the whole action part of the book and it got more interesting to me. To me the worst part of the book was when Melina and Clint first met. I just thought it was cheesy, like how they were talking to each other. It seemed to fake. I recommend this book for people who like maybe fantasy or mystery. Sort of more for girls then guys just because it’s a lovey type of book.</itunes:subtitle>

I picked up this book because I liked it title; I wasn’t sure what is was about, but my friend told me that it was a good book. The book called Speak is about a girl named Melinda that goes to a party. She and some of her friends are drinking. She goes outside and this boy that is drunk rapes her by a tree; she is speechless and doesn’t know what to say. She calls the cops and the cops come; she runs away from the party back to her house the cops never know that she is raped. When she gets back to school, all of her old friends hate her for calling the cops. No one knows that she has been raped. She is hated by most of the school. Her friend starts dating this boy named Andy Evans also known as the boy that raped Melinda. Melinda tries to tell Rachelle that her new boyfriend raped her ad Rachelle doesn’t believe her and thinks that she is crazy for saying that. Then Andy finds out that Melinda had said this to Rachelle. Andy comes to Melinda’s art class when no one is there and chokes her and says to her that she is crazy because he didn’t rape her and that she wanted it to happen. She doesn’t know what to do. Then Rachelle walks into the classroom and sees all of this and then Rachelle believes Melinda and they become friends. My favorite part of the book was at the end when Melinda got her revenge on Andy. And when Melinda and Rachelle became friends. The worst part was when she doesn’t eat at a new friends but throws up and gets so hungry that she eats dog food out of the dog’s dish. I didn’t like it because its just nasty.</itunes:subtitle>

A girl gets raped at a party and is struggling with dealing with it because now her friends hate her. She called the cops at the party when she got raped and got some people in trouble. She gets depressed because she doesn’t have any friends anymore and nobody seems to like her. Her art teacher is the one who inspires her the most to change and to let go of the past. I like books that have to do with someone else’s problems. They interest me. This book was very realistic and didn’t really have any dramatizations in it and I like that. The worst part was that it was slow in the beginning and took a little while to pick up.

The author told the reader about his fishing stories. He told me how to tie knots. My favorite aspect of the book is the different species of fish. It was my favorite part of the book because I like fish. The boats were the worst part of the book. The boats were the worst part of the book because I don’t like boats. I don’t like boats because they are big. I would recommend this book to others. Someone might enjoy it if they like fishing.

It Happened to Nancy by Beatrice Sparks PHD - Rating: ? ? * ? ? I picked up this book because my sister had told me about it. She had told me that it might be a book that I would like. I also picked this book up because of what the back of the book said and the picture on the front. This book is about a girl who goes to a concert with her friends and her aunt. She has to use the the bathroom. She comes out of the bathroom, and she can’t find her aunt or her friends. She starts to cry. This 18 year old comes up to her, and starts talking to her, and she starts to like him a lot. They start dating, and shes only 15. They spend every waking minute with each other. The boy’s name is Collin. One day Nancy’s mom leaves and goes out of town. She has Collin come over for dinner. After diner Collin forces Nancy to do something that is against Nancy’s religion. Nancy gets raped. Nancy not only got raped; she also got the HIV virus or as some people call it AIDS. Nancy keeps a journal and the story is her journal. Two days before her last entry, she dies. She is buried with Uncle Rod, Red Alert and soon to be Cougur the cat. My favorite part of the book is when Nancy gets a lot of support from the gaggle(her friends) and her family. The doctors are very supportive and nice. The worst part of the book is when Collin gives Nancy AIDS after raping her and never talking to her again and does the same thing to other girls. I recommend this book to mostly girls because it comes from a girls point of view and everything happens to the girl.</itunes:subtitle>

Phantom Stallion One The Wild One by Terri Farley - Rating: ? ? * ? ? Farley, Terri. Phantom Stallion One The Wild One. New York: Harper Collins Publishers, 2002. I picked up this book because I like to read about animals, so I read the first page, and I could not stop reading it. The story begins starts with father picking Sam up from Aunt’s house in San Francisco. She had stayed with Aunt to get better from an accidental fall off a horse. She moves back in with her father and her grandmother on their ranch. She begins the search of her missing horse “Blackie” that ran away into the wild after the horse accident. She thinks she she found him. “Blackie has a star shape on his forehead between his eyes. My favorite part was when she thinks that she found “Blackie”, and when they don’t blame Jake for her accident. The worst part was when they blame Jake and when Sam fall’s off her horse. This book is for whoever likes to read about horse...

I picked up this book because my mom got it for me to read, and she told me that it is a good book to read. This book takes place on a farm and it is back in World War Two. There is a girl named Marjie Macmillan and Jerry Macmillan and their baby girl Martha. Jerry was in the war; he was on a ship that had been torpedoed along with his friends that were with him fighting in the war. In the end Marjie hands Jerry a pace of paper, and in it was written that Marjie was going to have a baby. I like that it wasn’t a hard book. I also like that there were a lot of little stories. I like that the story was held at a farm. I liked that because I like the outdoors. Another one it that there is a war going on. When I’m 18, I want to fight in the war. Last think is that it was calm and not that hard to read. I didn’t like that there were...

I picked up this book because my friends have read it before and liked it and recommended this book to me. This is based on a true story. It takes place in Civil War. Its about a Calvary of teenage boys. And in the book when these boys talk they actually have the exact sayings they used and it makes it harder to comprehend. And when they talk about the boys they call them the youth. The best part was the whole book there was no bad part. I recommend this book for someone who likes books about war and old time sayings and who likes reading.

It has many stories about events that police snipers were involved in. There were a lot of good stories so I don’t have “a” favorite part. They were all good. It got a little boring at the beginning of some of the stories, but overall was not that bad. It is a great book. If you like military or things of that nature, then you’ll like this book.

Speak by Laurie Anderson – Rating: ? ? ? ? Anderson, Laurie. Speak. New York: Syracuse, 1999. I picked the book Speak up because after reading the back of the book it sounded pretty good. This book is pretty much just about a girl named Melinda Sordino, and how that she really isn’t liked in school. Even though she isn’t liked in school, she was still invited to a party over Christmas break. She did end up going to the party of Christmas break. At the party there was alcohol, and everyone there was drinking. Melinda drank that night for her first time, and since she did drink a lot, she wasn’t feeling that well. She took a walk by herself over into the woods just to calm down. Melinda had a boy named Andy follow her there to the woods. While they were there in the woods just talking so much because they were drunk, Andy decided to kiss Melinda. The kissing led to another thing that Melinda didn’t know what to do about. She ran back to the party and went into ...

She ran back to the party and went into the house and called the cops. The cops came and crashed the party. By the time Christmas break was over, everyone knew about Andy and how he raped Melinda. Andy really didn’t like how these so called rumors were spreading around school. One day in school Andy seen Melinda and took her and locked them into a room and he started to beat her because of what she spread around about him. There really wasn’t any bad parts in the book, but it is kind of slow and boring. It kind of made me want to just put the book down and not even read it. There is a few parts that were kind of interesting through out the book that did make me want to keep reading. Over all it really wasn’t that bad of a book ,but it wasn’t what I was expecting. I wouldn’t recommend anyone younger then 14 to read this book unless a parent says it’s fine. Some cautions though is that there is some cussing through out the whole book. There is also some violence in the book to and there’s some parts that are pretty descriptive.</itunes:subtitle>
