<description>Live DA Meeting &#226; Wednesday, August 19, 2009 Unfortunately, we had some techical difficulties and don't have the intro to the call, but the rest of the fun, information and entertainment is there, as usual. What Would Dumbledore Do? As the campaign draws to a close, we just want to take the time to look back at what we accomplished and to thank you guys for all you did to make the magic happen! - Looking at the many forms WWDD has taken: blog posts, artwork, the Twitter challenge, the Movie Name Tag challenge, and the WWDD Doctrine on the WWDD website ( www.whatwoulddumbledoredo.org ). - Impressive statistics for Twitter (over 12,000 #dumbledore tweets!) and website traffic (over 500% increase from June to July!) - The full force of the Harry Potter fandom was involved. Many thanks to the Leaky Cauldron, Mugglenet, HPANA, HPEF, the Wizard Rock community, the Vlogbrothers, and many, many more&#226;especially YOU! - Results: Rise in Chapter requests. Currently we have over 50 active chapters on 5 continents. Email chapters@thehpalliance.org if you want a chapter near you. - Press coverage: You honored Dumbledore, and the Muggle media noticed! The Harry Potter Alliance and WWDD were mentioned in the LA Times, Newsweek, CNN, Newsweek Japan, Time Magazine, and the Australian Today Show. &amp;nbsp; Platform 9 &#194;: We at the HPA don&#226;t buy into the Muggle mindset that places too much emphasis on money. However, as a nonprofit organization we depend on donations to continue functioning day to day. Enter the 9 &#194; project: this is your opportunity to help the HPA raise some much-needed funds. Ways you can help: - Make a donation. There are 3 ways to do this: (1) Make an electronic payment through PayPal on the HPA website ( www.thehpalliance.org/nineandthreequarters.html ) (2) Make an electronic payment through the HPA Facebook page (3) Send a check to the HPA P.O. Box (the address can be found on the 9 &#194; page on the HPA site). - Buy merchandise. Check out our brand new HPA gear at www.thehpalliance.org/shop.html - Plan a fundraiser. We discussed some great ideas (penny drives, Quidditch tournaments, etc) on the chat, but be sure to post your ideas as a blog on the Ning as well. - Get excited. Obviously not everyone is in a position to give financially, but you can also help us out by contributing ideas, spreading the news, and building the excitement.</itunes:subtitle>

<itunes:summary>At our live DA meeting on June 10, Andrew Slack, Hope Mullinax, and Karen Bernstein had a fabulous discussion with each other and the listeners in the USTREAM chat about the Harrry Potter Alliance&#226;s What Would Dumbledore Do? campaign, which was launched at LeakyCon 2009. <title>Harry Potter Alliance Potterwatch #8: STANDfast 2008: Darfur and Burma</title>
      <link>http://www.odeo.com/episodes/23673479-Harry-Potter-Alliance-Potterwatch-8-STANDfast-2008-Darfur-and-Burma</link>
<description>Wed., Dec. 3, 2008 is STANDfast, where we ask you to give up something you regularly spend money on, and instead donate that money to STAND to help protect women in Darfur and ethnic minorities in Burma. Just $3 can help one woman in Darfur remain in a refugee camp and not have to venture out to collect firewood. Just $5 can help protect a family in Burma by providing access to a radio which can warn of an impending attack. A small donation will certainly go a long way. In this podcast the HPA takes a look at what has been going on in Darfur and Burma, and how you can help. To donate, please visit http://thehpalliance.org/civilianprotection, on Dec. 3 and before and thereafter. For more information e-mail standfast@thehpalliance.org.</description>

      <title>One World, One Dream</title>
      <link>http://www.odeo.com/episodes/23167218-One-World-One-Dream</link>
<description>The Olympics are a TriWizard Tournament for the real world. Both are ancient athletic competitions that bring together individuals of great talent to represent their countries in the spirit of international cooperation. The slogan of this years' 2008 Olympics happens to be &amp;quot; One World, One Dream.&amp;quot; Unfortunately the &amp;quot; One World, One Dream&amp;quot; ideal of the Olympics is being high jacked the way that same idea was high jacked when Lord Voldemort use the TriWizard Tournament as a vehicle to rise to power.
