When Roland Emmerich destroys the world, he does it with a certain panache. Independence Day, Godzilla, Day After Tomorrow are some of his previous epic disaster movies and 2012 looks to be kicking it up yet again. With an off-beat cast including genre favourites like John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Woody Harrelson, the Mayan doomsday is compounded by a government conspiracy and some of the biggest scale earth-ending images we've ever seen!~Matt + Nat

http://YourGeekNews.com for more! After having our hopes for a good Japanese cartoon adaptation dashed by the Wachowski’s Speed Racer, our hopes were high for Imagi Studios to bring us some good old-fashioned CGI manga true to the original. And bring it they did. In the form of a very well made kids movie that brought us both back to the early 80’s. And treated us like we had the same brainpower we had in the 80’s. A childrens’ movie 100%, Astro Boy fires on all cylinders for kids, and gives parents a good excuse to watch a cartoon inspired by their own childhood. So if you don't have any, go borrow some kids from someone you know, and you’ll look right at home in the theatre!~Matt + Nat

REVIEW: WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE

We both had very mixed about Wild Things. But even with Nat not finding anything to sympathize with in the character of Max, and Matt finding the narrative run out of steam halfway through, we still couldn't find it in our hearts to dislike this movie. It's just somehow very special in spite of any faults is may have. Between the gorgeous effects work, incredible voice talent and breathtaking cinematography of a world we've never really seen before, Jonze did manage to capture something with this movie. That something just wasn't a perfect film. ~Matt + Nat

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE PREVIEW: Sendak + Jonze = Awesome?

Watch scenes from the movie and interviews with the cast and crew! It's taken decades to finally happen, but Maurice Sendak's beloved children's book, Where the Wild Things Are has finally been adapted to the silver screen. The only thing less predictable is that the director who would accomplish this feat is Spike Jonze! With a history of wild music videos and MTV's Jackass under his belt, he'd seem an unlikely choice, but he's been friends with Sendak for years and after plenty of buzz about re-fanging the controversial 60's book for a modern audience, this creature effect driven story about childhood is finally ready!

When a $15,000 indie film rakes in $7.1-million by being called the most terrifying film in years, it definitely gets our attention. We review it spoiler free at first, so take an advanced look at what might be the scariest thing you'll ever see!

Columbus wasn't kidding when he said Zombieland is moist, but we enjoyed the hell out of Ruben Fleischer's debut ride! Between Jesse Eisenberg's coy hero and Woody Harrelson's crass maverick, we got our fill of every kind of Zombie kill you can imagine. And that's not even considering the monster awesome cameo in the middle. But what did YOU think of your adventure through Zombieland?~Matt + Nat

In keeping with our apparent theme of beloved characters who die in the back-10 of the final season, Nat had the chance to chat with Michael Trucco, the actor behind Samuel T. Anders, the resistance-fighter-turned-cylon (or would he really be the cylon-turned-resistance-fighter?). He tells us his thoughts on the finale, working with Katee, playing injured in a tub of goo, and what's next for him in his acting career.~Matt + Nat

Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg look like they make an incredible comedic duo in Ruben Fleischer's directorial debut, Zombieland, but there's a delicate balance to ride between that comedy and the horror elements that makes Zombie movies really knock it out of the park. We're both easily as excited about this one as we were about any summer movies that came our way, whether that's because Matt loves him some Sam Raimi-style horror/comedy or because Nat has an abnormally active imagination when it comes to surviving a Zombie pandemic, you can bet we'll be inline for the midnight screening! ~Matt + Nat

SURROGATES REVIEW: Where's Steeplejack?

Did Bruce Willis and Jonathan Mostow do justice to the critically acclaimed five-part comic written by Robert Venditti? You already know from the trailers that the stakes have gone up from the comic plot: now the operators die as well when the surrogates are fried. But did that ruin the entire motivation of "Steeplejack"? Or does this change in the plot give a whole new and higher message to Surrogates? Check out our review, it's Spoiler-free at first and then quite Spoileriffic as we examine Surrogates as a standalone film, and then as an adaptation. ~Matt + Nat

Everyone seems to have loved our interview with Mary McDonnell so much, that we decided to keep it up! So at DragonCon we managed to sit down and chat with a few more of the incredible actors that brought us some of the characters we know and love from BSG, to get a bit of insight into how they experienced the show from their perspective. First up, Matt chatted with the beautiful and talented Kandyse McClure who played Anastasia Dualla for almost the entire run of the series... almost. So consider this your spoiler warning! From her thoughts on the growth of her character, to what she's up to now, Kandyse gives us a great peek into what makes her, and Dee, tick!~Matt + Nat

INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS REVIEW: Quentin’s Finest?

Maybe it's because Matt is such a Spaghetti Western fan. Maybe it's because Nat was so taken by Christoph Waltz deliciously evil performance. Maybe it's simply the incredible 2.5 hours of brilliant film making. But one way or another, we both loved Basterds more than any other Tarantino we've ever seen. The Midnight Screening was completely packed, and the crowd was into every word. What about you? We hope you get a kick out of our review, but what did you think of Inglourious Basterds?~Matt + Nat

Quentin is bringing us something the world hasn't really seen in theatres since the 70's -- a spaghetti western style World War II movie set in Nazi Germany behind enemy lines. With Brad Pitt... that part's new. With a great cast of international talent, at least three languages and more Nazi scalping than you can put in a single movie trailer, it looks like Tarantino's latest is a sight to behold. At least, that's what the folks at the Cannes Film Fest thought. What about you? Let us know what you're expecting! Another piece of genius from the world's biggest movie fan? Or a disappointing over-the-top action movie from a screenwriter whose greatest asset lies in dialogue? ~Matt + Nat

DISTRICT 9 REVIEW: The Best of The Summer

http://YourGeekNews.com to comment. Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp have brought us what might be the most significant modern Sci-Fi movie, but have definitely made one of the best movies of 2009. With great characters, an amazing alternate reality, plus social commentary and action to spare, District 9 is a must-see film for geeks and movie-lovers alike!

DISTRICT 9 PREVIEW: Original Sci-Fi From South Africa?

http://YourGeekNews.com to comment! We've been looking forward to this one since the very first "For Human Use Only" bus shelters started popping up in our city, and the early teasers made this look like a sci-fi film the likes of which we've never seen. Oozing with social commentary, this human/alien segregation story is placed in South Africa, where the wounds of apartheid are still healing. We can't wait to see what Producer Peter Jackson and first-time Director Neill Blomkamp have to offer with District 9! ~Matt + Nat

If you have a chance to track down a theatre playing this award winning Korean Vampire film from the Director of Old Boy, you will not be disappointed. Graphic and visceral in every way, Thirst, or Bakjwi, blew our minds with the realism that the story was grounded in, and the depths to which the characters could sink.

G.I.JOE REVIEW: Seriously, Can We Get A Time Refund?

Dear sweet lord… this was seven shades of atrocious, and we’re not even sure where to begin. Not even Destro and Cobra Commander could save it. In fact, they might be Matt’s most hated part of the entire film. Or was it the American Good-guy Baroness? Or maybe the terrible lead actors? No, it might have been seeing the entire Snake Eyes/Stormshadow mysterious backstory told in horribly inelegant flashbacks all in one movie. Hard to say, really. ~Matt + Nat

If you were an action figure kid or a cartoon lover in the 80's, there's no way you escaped G.I.Joe... so you're either excited or horrified with what is coming to the silver screen in August. An American Baroness, goofy looking armour suits and a Wayans brother aren't helping the situation. ~Matt + Nat

Now that Matt has read all the books along with Nat, the tag-team fury of two Potter-heads trying to review Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince as the best film in the series before going on a tirade about the faithlessness of adaptation… well it might just blow your mind as much as it did ours.In any event, we’ve never loved and hated a Potter film more than this one, so hit up YourGeeknews.com and give us YOUR thoughts, since we’re all the kind of geeks who were sitting there at 12:01 when the lights went down and the applause began! ~Matt + Nat

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth story in the Harry Potter Anthology, is coming to the big screens after breaking the hearts of fans everywhere with a tragic (yet necessary) plot development in the book. And now we get to see all that nastiness come to life! Since being blown away by Order of the Phoenix, Matt has actually read all the books, and it’ll be interesting to see how opinions may change since our 2007 Review of the previous installment of Harry Potter.

~Matt + Nat

TRANSFORMERS 2 REVIEW: It was... good? Unexpected.

Michael Bay stunned us. Not only was Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen an entertaining enough film to keep Nat's attention for 150-long minutes, but Matt, (who RAILED against the 2007 film as a classic G1 80's Transformer fan) actually enjoyed this one, too! The wounds from Bay's painful reimagining of the Transformers have healed in the last two years, and a Mute, Camaro Bumblebee doesn't offend us quite as much as it used to. Maybe that's what helped make this sequel SUCH an improved experience over the original! ~Matt + Nat

TRANSFORMERS 2 PREVIEW: Revenge, Anyone?

If you go back to our 2007 review on http://YourGeekNews.com, Matt was on a bit of a tirade about how terrible of an adaptation Michael Bay’s first Transformers film was. Now that all the wounds have healed, Bumblebee is a Camaro, Jazz is dead and Optimus has flames on his trailerless tractor trailer, it’s time to see if this re-imagined Transformerverse has a good story to tell in it. We’ve got three scenes to share with you that give you an idea of what to expect from the T2… wait, that acronym is already taken. Either way, we hope you enjoy our take on almost 5 minutes of theatrical footage from the film! ~Matt + Nat

We managed to check out Drag Me To Hell back at SXSW in March, and we LOVED it. Watching Sam Raimi return to the genre that he started in was magnificent, with all the jumps and laughs and wit that you'd expect from a classic Raimi horror film. Since we've already seen this one, for a change this episode will bring you a review along with exclusive scenes from the movie and interviews behind-the-scenes of Drag Me To Hell! ~Matt + Nat

T4 REVIEW: Terminator Salvageable? Satisfactory? Sub-par?

We both loved parts and hated parts; we both thought parts were bad ass and other parts had no balls at all… only problem is, we’re not totally in agreement on which was which. This isn't exaclty a film series that prides itself on continuity, but still, as Terminator fans, but after 25 years of Terminators, we have a certain minimum expectation. What did you think? Hit up http://YourGeekNews.com to give us your thoughts on McG’s attempt to bring the Terminator franchise a new direction! ~Matt + Nat

T4 PREVIEW: Does McG Spell Salvation for the Terminator Franchise?

After an atrocious T3, it looked like the Terminator film series was suffering from classic franchise fatigue (seriously, THREE movies about the same exact plot?). But with the arrival of McG in the director's chair, we’ve got a movie about the coolest part of the Terminator universe: the dystopian future that all these wacky killing machines are from. Not to be confused with three hot babes who work for a talking speaker. With a killer film look, some great actors, and a NEW idea for once, Terminator looks like it’s relevant again, and ready to rock this summer's blockbuster season... Check out this sweet preview with TONNES of scenes from the film! ~Matt + Nat

We were both BLOWN AWAY by J.J. Abram's Star Trek, as a prequel, as a sequel, and as a big summer blockbuster movie... Even though Matt's a life-long trekkie, and Nat's never really followed Trek, it was a unanimous crowd pleaser for us. What about you? hit up YourGeekNews.com to tell us what you thought!

STAR TREK PREVIEW: Exclusive Scenes and Interviews

Shatner's out, Picard hasn't been born yet, Odo is still a pile of goo and Janeway? Who's that? J.J. Abrams has taken Star Trek into the realm of James Bond, Doctor Who and Batman, making Kirk, Spock and Bones larger than the actors who play them. Yes, he's re-cast every single role in an attempt to breathe new life into one of the longest running film and tv franchises in history. We've got an exclusive first look at scenes from Star Trek, as well as interviews with J.J, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and the rest of the all-new cast of the original series. Matt's a HUGE trekkie, and Nat not so much, so there will be PLENTY to look forward to in our review next week! ~Matt + Nat

WOLVERINE REVIEW: Multiple Endings = Multiple Viewings?

To say that Wolverine has multiple endings isn’t exactly correct, but it does have multiple post-credit bonus scenes. Much like the post-credit Nick Fury scene in Iron Man, or the Tony Stark scene in Incredible Hulk, X-Men Origins: Wolverine gives you a reason to sit through the credits… and it’s hard to know which one you’ll be getting since Gavin Hood has put at least two different versions out in theatres, that we know of. We’ve seen two different endings, one that’s Deadpool-centric and once that’s Japan-based, but it won’t take long to get to the bottom of how many there are, and to see them all! ~Matt + Nat

WOLVERINE PREVIEW: Turns out Hugh Jackman actually IS Wolverine

With interviews with Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Ryan Reynolds, Daniel Henney and director Gavin Hood, the advanced preview clips we've got for you from Wolverine are high octane, funny, and classic Wolverine; just the thing to make Matt want to grow a mean set of mutton chops year round! It's been three movies of watching Logan share the screen with other mutants while we pretended he wasn't the main character... and now we don't have to pretend anymore. X-Men Origins: Wolverine centres on everyone's favourite Candian Ball of Berserker Rage, and makes no apologies for it. With Hugh Jackman producing the film as well as starring, it looks like the man who might just know Logan best is shouldering a lot of the responsibility in bringing us his origin story well. ~Matt + Nat

It is upon us. The Direct-To-DVD release of Caprica was April 21st and with the Blood, Boobies and Human Sacrifice that we’ve been privy to seeing so far, it looks like Ron Moore managed to skirt the TV-Gods and Censors quite elegantly by releasing in on DVD first. There have been quite a few times in his podcasts that he mentioned how the TV version of a Battlestar Episode wasn’t quite his ideal cut (for either time or network restrictions) but with Caprica available for first viewing as an unspoiled DVD version, we’ll be sure to watch what Ron wants us to see Battlestar is over, long live Caprica! ~Matt + Nat

Thanks to an industry contact who has to remain nameless, we’ve managed to get our hands on a copy of the much publicized Wolverine Workprint… and boy do we have some things to say about it! Some good, some not so good, but this version is by no means the final film we’ll be seeing in theatres in May. It, in fact, is the version that lead to Fox commissioning millions of dollars in re-shoots and changes. Will that make it better? Worse? There’s no way to know yet, but this will give us some rare insight to the process of making a blockbuster!~Matt + Nat

REVIEW: "X-Men Origins - Wolverine" Workprint

Thanks to an industry contact who has to remain nameless, we’ve managed to get our hands on a copy of the much publicized Wolverine Workprint… and boy do we have some things to say about it! Some good, some not so good, but this version is by no means the final film we’ll be seeing in theatres in May. It, in fact, is the version that lead to Fox commissioning millions of dollars in re-shoots and changes. Will that make it better? Worse? There’s no way to know yet, but this will give us some rare insight to the process of making a blockbuster! ~Matt + Nat

We were in Austin for South by Southwest and got to watch Part 1 of Daybreak at the Alamo Drafthouse! We managed to shoot in the lobby of the Hilton across from SXSW and got some great theories from fans like us after this doozy of an episode! Esoteric and tense, Daybreak Part 2 is shaping up to be one hell of knock-down drag-out battle from front to back! ~Matt + Nat

WATCHMEN REVIEW 1: Oh-oh Alan... it was good. REALLY good.

More positive than we were expecting with an ending that just might take Alan Moore to school. And we're saying ALL that without seeing all the extra DVD-released scenes that have been shot with Hollis Mason, Sally Jupiter-- oh yeah and the Black Freighter! So you can bet this will be the first of at least two reviews we'll be doing of Watchmen. Once that DVD comes out, we'll be getting an even more accurate, comprehensive and faithful adaptation.

The very last of our non-two-part-cliff-hangers for the season. Can't you tell? Ah, it seems like every episode of this season has been one cliff-hanger after the next, but with Hera in Cylon hands and Anders acting all kinds of Hybrid, there's lots to talk about in this momentum-building tee-up of an episode! ~Mat + Nat
